Tyler Johnson, CFP® CTFA
I always strive to focus on “the person over the pedigree”, so I'll introduce who I am as a person first:
I am in my 30s and have lived in the Steele Creek area of Charlotte since 2015. I have an amazing wife, Kelly, who works in the mental health field. We have a "fur baby" named Luke (see below). We are Christians who regularly attend and serve at our church. However, I seek to see and appreciate all people and hope that even if we do not share the same beliefs or interests, you will not let that alone deter you from partnering together. We love to travel and see the world. I am also a bit of a hobbyist and really enjoy playing most sports, hiking, kayaking, serving with nonprofits, and more. I am passionate about financial literacy as well as the cause of ending human trafficking. I graduated from Clemson University and still avidly pull for my Tigers. If you want to know more, just ask!
Now for pedigree. I graduated summa cum laude from Clemson University in 2012 with a degree in Financial Management and an emphasis in Financial Services. I started my career with Vanguard in 2012 where I got my Series 7 and 63 licenses. By 2015, I had attained my CFP® (Certified Financial Planner) designation and I joined Vanguard's Personal Advisor Services group as a financial advisor. I stayed in that space, learning and growing, through 2023 when I decided to launch StillWater Financial Advisors. By the time I left Vanguard, I was managing a book of clients with total assets that exceeded $200 million and worked with individual clients ranging from $200,000 to $7 million managed. I recently received my NC life insurance license. I also hold a CTFA (Certified Trust and Fiduciary Advisor) designation which allows for more depth in estate planning and trust subject matter. I only provide these details to hopefully inspire confidence that I am tenured in this field, well-studied, motivated to learn, and committed to serving you at a high level.
I will not know all of the answers all of the time, but when I don't I will take on the responsibility to get you an answer you can rely on. As needed, I will also help you find a subject matter expert in whom you can trust to provide sound guidance. Let me know how I might be able to assist you in the days ahead!
For the past seven years, I’ve dedicated my career to helping businesses connect with people through thoughtful and creative marketing strategies. Along the way, I’ve had the privilege of working closely with clients to understand their unique goals and help bring their visions to life. What’s always brought me the most joy, though, is rallying a team around a shared purpose—encouraging collaboration, sparking creativity, and celebrating the wins together.
That same passion for people and deep desire to see others thrive is what led me to my role in client care at StillWater. I believe relationships are at the heart of everything meaningful, and I consider it a gift to walk alongside others in a role that combines purpose, support, and personal connection.
Using my Christian faith as a guide, my mission is to love people with an overflow of the love I have received from Jesus. I firmly believe we weren’t created to do life alone, and that includes our efforts to manage our finances. Every conversation, every milestone, and even the hard moments can be an opportunity to connect, grow, and support one another.
While you and Tyler work together to create a wealth management plan tailored to your life and goals, I’ll be here as your advocate, encourager, and friend. At StillWater, we’re committed to walking with you and your family through every season—celebrating the highs and offering steady care during life’s uncertainties. You are not alone.
When I’m not serving our wonderful clients, you can usually find me in my favorite rocking chair with a glass of sweet tea and a good book in hand. I’m a wife, boy mom, family woman, prayer warrior, friend, and community servant—and I’m honored to now be a part of your journey.
